Q & A
What do you mean by a child’s spirit?
Children with strong and healthy spirit show courage, chutzpah, determination and resilience in the face of pressure. They are proud of who they are, are comfortable with themselves, relate easily to others and find life exciting. Spirited children reach for great goals. They have the ability to use their talents to the full and be who they truly are at the very core of their being.
What kind of symptoms does this program work for?
A whole spectrum of symptoms from bullying, meltdowns, temper tantrums, low motivation, low self-esteem, lethargy, to symptoms that have been labeled as ADD, ADHD, Aspergers, Tourettes, OCD, ODD, Depression … and more. This program works with any behavior the child displays that are causing the child, the family and the school to be distressed.
You speak about healing without prescription drugs. What if my child is already taking a prescription drug?
If your child is already taking a prescribed medication we will not take the child off the medication but rather implement the program while he/she is on the meds, monitor the improvements and when and if appropriate we will then discuss weaning the child off the meds with your healthcare practitioner.
Is this the same as therapy?
No it is not therapy. I do hold a degree in Clinical Psychology but I am not practicing psychology or doing therapy. I am a health coach. I educate parents about healing their children without prescription drugs and teach them the tools to help the child’s body heal from the inside-out.
How will these tools help my child?
These are tools that are designed to help your child’s body heal itself. They are techniques to trigger healthy, anti-stress chemicals in your child’s body and brain; tools to integrate the two sides of the brain; tools to use food as a form of medicine, tools to build self-esteem and help your child connect with the energy and power of his spirit. These tools are easy to learn, very easy to use and fun. The added benefit is that as you practice these tools with your child, you will be healing yourself at the same time.
Do you see the child?
My work is primarily with parents. My goal is to teach parents the tools that will help them to manage and heal the symptoms the child shows. I will first see the parent/parents. I will ask for the child to visit with me when I believe this is necessary.
How long is the personal coaching program?
The program is 6 sessions, customized to suit the schedule of the client – one session per week or one session every two weeks. The 6 sessions do not include the initial 90 minute history-taking session.
Is there any ongoing support after I have completed the program?
Yes, I am available for support sessions on a needs basis. This can be on Skype or at my office. I also offer an online support group of 6 sessions over 6 weeks.
Can one parent take the program or must it be both parents?
It is preferable that both parents do this. However this is very often not possible. The vast majority of clients I coach are mothers. I do need to see the father for at least one visit to be sure that he understands the goal of the program and is willing to support the mother as she implements the program.
Aren’t there some children who do need prescription drugs? Will your program still work for those parents?
Yes, indeed there are cases where a child needs prescribed medication. I am not against medication. I am against medication as the first option when it needs to be the last option. The program will most definitely be of great benefit to parents who have children that need meds.
How long is each personal coaching session?
One hour, except for the initial history-taking session which is 90 minutes.
Is there any paperwork I have to do before I start the sessions?
Yes there is an intake questionnaire that needs to be completed. You can do this via email.
What do you cover in the program?
The program consists of 3 segments:
- A Whole New Way. This is the education-information segment. In this part of the program you will learn all about how this medication-free approach works, and how you can identify the underlying body and spirit root causes of your children’s problems.
- Your New Role. This is the planning part of the program. You will learn how to move from the role of parent to the role of parent-healer. You will create a strategy and roadmap for the steps of action you will need to take, based on the personal challenges of your child.
- Your New Tool Box. In this phase you will learn, practice and personally experience many tools to use with your children. These tools are built into your daily schedule. Using these tools will help your child’s body and brain function optimally and strengthen your child’s spirit.
